Video Transcript for Review of Flint Hill Goods Wiring - Wire Connectors - 44-5310A

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this 3/16 inch yellow ring terminal for a 12 to 10 gauge size wire. Now, this ring terminal is used for all types of electrical work where wires need fastening to a stud. Usually connects to the end of a bare wire to give a better electrical connection to apply to when you install this onto the stud. Now, this part here is designed to attach a 12 or 10 gauge size wire to a stud size of 3/16 of an inch diameter. Basically, the bare wire is what is inserted into the sleeve of the terminal, and then it's secured by crimping down on it to hold it into place.

Now, these rigged terminals are color coded using the vinyl insulation sleeve. You can see this one is a yellow color, which means it fits 12 gauge to 10 gauge size wires. They're also available in other colors, they offer a blue color, which lets you know it fits a 16 to 14 gauge size wire, and then a red color sleeve will let you know it fits a 22 to 18 gauge size wires. Basically, the higher the wire gauge number, the smaller the size of the wire. But that should do it for the review on this 3/16 inch yellow ring terminal for the 12 to 10 gauge size wire.

Works as advertised.

Replaced trailer wiring over a year ago and lights still work great. No issues with these connectors. Used them in new junction box.

by:

connectors and breakers to hook up my brake controller arrived in order, installed easily, and lasted 1 year so far...

by:

Had this sent to the person I purchased my Used Lance 1030 from before picking it up. He said this was a Super High Quality Product! Nice and Color Coded Heavy duty terminals. His Electrician is removing the end of the Lance plug so I can just use the 7 bladed plug at the end of the bed of my truck next to my License plate (2017 F350 PSD, DRW Super Cab, 8 Foot bed)

by:

Good connector. Used it to terminate LED lighting and no problems in about a year so far.

by:

Fast shipping and exactly what I needed to replace my OEM Trailer pigtail.

by:

Quick service/delivery. Nothing really exceptional about these. Frankly, wish I had gotten some with heat shrink.

by:

Everything was as advertised, and thank you Kaylyn R for your wonderful customer service. It took awhile to get everything installed, because of crazy events in the past year, but it all works great!

by:

Bought in conjunction with other items to rewire trailer.
Works as advertised.
Speedy delivery.

by:

Overall a good product. Easy to use and install.

The only minor issue we had was the plastic band coming loose after crimping the wire onto the connector.

by:

Worked well with everything downstream of the primary wiring. Just wasn't big enough for the primaries, got that at a local hardware store.

by:

Everything arrived faster than I thought it would and everything looks great!!! I will be buying more when I need trailer parts in future. Things should go alright installing unless I screw it up.

by:

Odelia waited on me and was very helpful as well as professional. I certainly would order from her again and recomend etrailer to anyone who needs trailer supplies.

by:

What can I say, its a ring terminal.

by:

Not a cheap connector

by:

Exactly as described. Great to order from one supplier and have all the pieces arrive together for our project.

by:

Worked great good quality

by:

  • How Do The Breakaway Switch And Electric Brakes Connect To A Trailer's 7 Way
There will be two ways of getting your brakes and break away kit connected to the 7 Way plug on your trailer. First will be to simply splice the wires together, but this can be a bit of a pain as you can end up having several wires connected together. The second way, and the much easier way as well, is to use a junction box, like the Buyers Products # 3375601101. This will require you to mount the box and use ring terminals, like the # 44-5310A, to connect everything, but it is the way...

  • Troubleshooting A Tekonsha RF Prodigy Brake Controller That Won't Pair To The Remote
If your 7-way only has the 4-pole connector running to it and there isn't a fused line ran from it to the battery then you only have light functions going back to the trailer and nothing sending power for the brake controller to actually function. You need some 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1 and will need to connect it to the pin in the 1 o'clock position when looking at the face of the 7-way connector on the CX-9 (11 o'clock position from the back side). You'll want to use a 40 amp circuit breaker...

  • Parts Needed For Wiring Electric Trailer Brakes On a 2018 Tandem Axle Trailer
You will need a Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box # HS381-9000 if you do not already have a 7-way on the front of your Trailer. This will then tie into a Bright Way Push-to-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 3802308 before going to the brakes themselves. You will need 12 Gauge Wire # 12-1-1(sold by the foot) to run to the trailer brakes(see diagram). Connectors # DW05745-1 and Ring Terminals # 44-5310A are needed to terminate the brake wires at the drums. I have linked our article...

  • Availability of Trailer Wiring in Different Connector Formats
We do offer both vehicle side 7-way sockets like # 37185 and trailer side 7-way plugs like the 4-foot # H20043 which work together and which are popular in the RV market. We also offer a wide range of trailer connector adapters that allow users to join vehicles with one type of connector to a trailer that has another type. There is no type of harness or adapter offered by etrailer that has an 8-pole configuration. Flat style connectors up to 5-poles are in use, and an example of an adapter...

  • Recommended Parts for Re-Wiring 5-Pole Flat Boat Trailer to Match Truck 7-Way Wiring
Adapters like # 37385 and # HM47570 are convenient and can work fine for the short-term but for long-term reliability you are really better off replacing the connector on the trailer to a 7-way that matches your truck with no adapters - or their potential problems. Those extra connections can mean more chances for corrosion. You can easily test your truck's 7-way using a circuit tester like # PTW2993. Have a helper activate each function while you apply the tester to the appropriate pins...

  • Troubleshooting Prodigy P3 Showing No Trailer Connected to Trailer 5-Way Connector
Your Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 on your 2004 Toyota Tacoma is showing no trailer connected because you only have the 5-Way flat connector on your trailer. The 5-Way carries the basic trailer light functions and that 5th pin is typically for the reverse lockout function on a trailer with a hydraulic actuator. Your trailer needs to have a 7-Way connector with wiring running to your trailer brakes in order for the P3 to properly recognize it and send the power to your brakes. If your Magic...

  • Changing Trailer 4-Way Wiring to 7-Way Wiring for Extra Function and Compatible Connector to Truck
To switch your boat trailer from a 4-way to a 7-way connector, I recommend using the 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector, 6' Long # H20044 along with heat shrink butt connectors # DW05744-5. You will ground the white wire to your trailer frame using # 44-5310A and then connect the running lights, right turn/stop, left turn/stop, and reverse light. To the reverse light (yellow wire on # H20044) you will connect # 16-1-1 wire sold by the foot to lead to your trailer reverse lights that...

  • Parts Needed to Adapt 7-Way Combined Vehicle Wiring with Separate 6-Pole Trailer Wiring
The easiest way to connect an RV 7-way with combined stop/turn signals to a 6-pole trailer with separate stop and turn lights is to use a converter like # 118158. This takes in the combined stop/turn signal and splits it out into separate signals for stop lights (the red wire) and for turn lights (the green and yellow wires). This is made easier by using a junction box like # HS381-9000 which provides both a place for making the trailer wiring connections and for housing the converter....

  • Recommended Method For Installing Longer 7-way Trailer Connector Harness On Trailer W/ 9' Deck
The best way would be replacing the current 7-way connector at the junction box and installing a longer harness. The junction box should be located not too far behind the coupler of your 2018 Rockwood A-Frame camper and will be on the inside of the A-frame. I recommend going with the 7-Way Molded Connector w/ 18' Cable - Trailer End # 50-67-106 which will be plenty long to clear the 9' deck on your trailer and it can be cut down to the exact length you want/need. Just make sure to not...

You will then disassemble the existing trailer connector and install the 7-way blade style connector. When you take apart the 9-pole connection point the functions should be labeled, and you will want...

  • Parts Needed to Convert from Hydraulic to Electric Brakes on a 1995 Jayco Pop Up Trailer
We have everything you need. Since you already have brakes then you already have hub and drums. If you need new hubs let me know your bolt pattern and inner and outer bearing numbers and I'll recommend the correct parts. You're going to need to wire the trailer to power the brakes. This will require to have a 7-way connector if it doesn't already have one, like # HS381-9000. It's attached to a junction box to make wiring everything easier. You'll also need ring terminals, # 44-5310A,...

  • Wire Gauge for Installing Electric Brakes
We recommend running 10 gauge wire # 10-2-1 for your brakes to connect to the Junction Box # 38656. You do not need to run the conductors down both sides of the trailer, it really will not make a difference so you can go ahead with your current plan. The 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector # H20042 and Hopkins Engager Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 20400 will also work for you; I also recommend using Ring Terminals # 44-5310A to fasten your wires.

The easiest solution would be to add a junction box like with the part # 277-000141 to your trailer wiring for the install of the Autowbrake part # 3430001. While it does require cutting the 7-way wiring it will give you an easy way to install the brake controller plus gives you the benefits of having a junction box.
